The Cottage

Self catering holiday cottage in a peaceful village location. Ideally suited for exploring the Yorkshire Moors and Dales and the north east coastline.

This luxury holiday cottage can sleep up to four people. It is four star self catering accommodation and is fitted to a very high standard. Prices vary between £205 - £400 for full weeks, and £154 - £274 for weekend or midweek breaks.

Landrace Cottage has been beautifully renovated by the owners during 2007 from a derelict piggery into a detached two bedroom holiday cottage, sleeping four and fitted to a high standard throughout.

This is no longer a working farm but the remaining buildings are now used as a workshop and showroom for Carthouse Furniture which is a small family run business employing two people. Carthouse furniture manufacture bespoke hardwood furniture to order. The majority of the furniture in the cottage has been made in our workshop.

The owners of the cottage live on site in the original farmhouse. Tours of the workshop can be arranged. Note that no machinery will operate before 9am or after 6pm.

Local Interest: Thirsk is a traditional market town made famous by author and vet James Herriot. The original surgery has been turned into a museum recapturing the home and working life of the young vet, and is well worth a visit. Outdoor markets are still held in Thirsk on Monday and Saturday. The Yorkshire Moors and Dales can be reached within half an hour by car, and the beautiful coastal resorts of Whitby and Scarborough are about one hours drive away. The city of York with its wonderful architecture, museums, theatres, restaurants, bars and shops is 25 miles by road, or just 20 minutes by train from Thirsk railway station which is one mile from the cottage. Add to this stately homes, theme parks and much more, we think you will be spoiled for choice. The local pub serving good food is just a three minute walk!
